We’re Liby Foundation

A small team doing what it takes to bring clean water, safe births, and basic dignity to communities in Somaliland who've been left to face drought and displacement alone.

OUR VISION

A society where every person, regardless of where they're born, has real access to education, healthcare, clean water, food, and the chance to build a better life.

OUR MISSION

To make sure vulnerable families in Somaliland have what they need to survive and thrive — clean water, maternal and general health care, education, and food — delivered with communities, not just for them, and built to last.

OUR STORY

Liby Foundation started with one person who couldn't look away.

In August 2022, Ali Abdirahman Nur founded the organisation in response to what he saw on the ground in Somaliland - families without clean water, mothers without access to safe births, communities in crisis with nowhere to turn.

What began as an urgent response has grown into an organisation working across dozens of locations, still guided by the same instinct: show up, listen, help.

Our Core Values

Compassion

We show up because we care — especially for mothers, children, and families with nowhere else to turn. We listen first, then act, and we build every service around protecting people's dignity, not just meeting a need.

Integrity

Every donation, every resource, every decision — we treat it like it matters, because it does. We're honest about what we do, transparent about how we do it, and accountable to the communities we serve and the people who support us.

Collaboration

We don't have all the answers, and we don't pretend to. We work alongside communities, local authorities, and other organisations to build solutions that actually fit — from water trucking to maternal health centres to schools.

Innovation

We're always looking for a better way to help — whether that's a new borehole, an ambulance, a boarding school, or simply a smarter way to reach the next family faster. Good intentions aren't enough; we want what works.
