Every child deserves the chance to learn — no matter how far they live from the nearest school, or how often their family has to move. We're working to make sure children and youth across Somaliland's underserved communities have real, lasting access to education.
What We're Working Towards
A classroom shouldn't be out of reach because of distance, poverty, or a family's way of life.
Our education work focuses on getting more children into school, keeping them there, and making sure the environment they learn in is one where they can actually thrive. We pay particular attention to children who are most likely to be left behind — those displaced from their homes, from nomadic and pastoralist families, or from communities where school has never really been an option.
How We Support Access to Education
Rehabilitating and building schools in communities that need them most
Providing learning materials, textbooks, and essential school supplies
Helping out-of-school children, displaced learners, and other vulnerable groups return to education
Raising community awareness around education, child protection, and school attendance
Flagship Initiative: A New School for QB Village
For children in QB Village, school has always meant a long walk, or no school at all.
We're currently building a new primary school in QB Village to reach children from rural and nomadic communities who've had little or no access to formal education — many of them at risk of dropping out, or never enrolling in the first place, simply because of distance or a family's mobile way of life.
Once complete, the school will serve QB Village and the surrounding area, giving children a safe, accessible place to learn — and giving families in even the most remote communities a real reason to believe their children can go to school.
